Island Treasures On Jekyll Island 2012

The Jekyll Island Authority hosts this event, a unique treasure hunting experience on Georgia's most popular public beach. The treasures are hand-crafted glass floats, called Island Treasures and mimic glass floats once used on the fishing nets of fishermen in the early 1900s. Each is unique and stamped for the lucky beachcomber who finds one. Treasure finders can register their Island Treasure at the Jekyll Island Visitor Information Center to receive a bio on the artist and a certificate of authenticity and an array of floats and other colorful glass creations for purchase in-store.
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

The Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to experience the legend of Titanic. The galleries in this fascinating Exhibition feature over 150 real artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with room re-creations and personal stories; each highlighting a different chapter in the compelling story of Titanic's maiden voyage. Upon entering the exhibit visitors each receive a replica boarding pass of an actual passenger aboard Titanic. You’ll begin with a chronological journey through the life of Titanic, moving through the Ship’s construction, to life on board, to the ill-fated sinking and amazing artifact rescue efforts.

Otherworldly The Art Of Canadian Costume Design

13th Annual Preeceville & District Mushers' Rendezvous

The annual Mushers' Rendezvous in Preeceville will be held on February 3, 4, and 5, 2012, all starting at the Preeceville and District Skating Arena. It is a world-class event featuring six and 10 sled dog races. The Winter Lights Festival

Manly Hosts The Australian Open Of Surf
February 11 to 19, 2012 - Manly, Sydney, Australia
Showcasing the best in surfing, skate, music, fashion and art, the Australian Open of Surfing is an extension of the world's largest action sports festival, the US Open of Surfing. The world's top male and female competitors are expected to be lured to the event, which will carry a six-star rating on the Association of Surfing Professionals ranking system and come with a total prize pool of $500,000 across surfing and skating events. The final fixture on the World Junior Championship Tour will be moved from Narrabeen to Manly to coincide with the new open titles.

UpTown Waterloo Ice Dogs Festival
February 18 & 19, 2012 - Waterloo, Ontairo, Canada
Bring your skates and enjoy the skating rink. Skate sharpening will also be available on site. Dog sled rides will be available for children so they can take a spin around the track on an authentic dog sled. Have your photo taken with Alaskan Malamute puppies at the Atrium in Waterloo City Hall. Visit the Button Factory where you will create masks of your favourite animals. Watch a block of ice be magically transformed! Ice Sculptures will be located at the Public Square and various locations. Free face painting will be available at Bauer Marketplace.

National Tresure Tour at Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Garden

Mount Vernon's tour showcases behind-the-scenes filming of the blockbuster movie "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" at Mount Vernon. Offered daily, the National Treasure Tour combines Hollywood and history, giving visitors stories about the filming and also information on how the locations were used during George Washington's time. Included in this approximately hour-long walking tour is the Mansion's basement and cornerstone, the setting for a pivotal scene. Fans of the movie will recognize the space as the location where Nicolas Cage's character kidnaps the president. This tour costs in addition to Estate admission.
Penn Cove Musselfest

WOMADelaide 2012

WOMAD is the World of Music, Arts & Dance. WOMADelaide began in 1992 and has gone on to become one of Australia's favourite festivals; the 2010 festival attracted 81,500 attendances over four days (not including children 12 and under, who are admitted free). This is a festival of live music and an exploration of the pygmy forest and fern trails of the VanDAmm State Park. Mayo Titanic Cultural Week 2012
April 8 to 15, 2012 - Lahardane, Mayo, Ireland
The week begins with a re-enactment of the journey by pony trap and sidecar from Lahardane to Castlebar station on Sunday 8 April. An American Wake will take place in Lahardane community centre during the week. The Mayo Titanic Ball for 300 people in Pontoon Bridge Hotel is on the night of Friday 13 April, followed by the annual bell ringing ceremony on Sunday 15 April at 2.20am. The week closes with the official opening of the Mayo Titanic Memorial Park, burial of the Time Capsule, and an unveiling of two stained glass windows.

10th Annual Waikiki Spam Jam

Between the stages, several of Honolulu's finest restaurants will be serving up Spam products in many different ways, so you can experience the enormous variety of its applications. Two merchandise tents will be selling Spam-themed items including t-shirts, shorts, sport balls, and slippers. Since the Waikiki Spam Jam Festival attracts many families, there is also a popular family tent with a variety of games and prizes.

Czech Beer Festival 2012

For 17 days, we have prepared a selection of the best from Czech breweries, chefs, butchers and bakers for you. You’ll have the chance to taste more than 70 brands of Czech beer, always in top quality in glass pitchers. 200 girls and boys in Czech national costumes will be your servers in one of three large-scale tents with a total seating capacity of 10,000. Each tent has its own stage with colorful entertainment programs. The festival has its own special currency, the Tolar. It helps to speed up the payment process and the service provided to you.
CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival 2012

The CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival is the premier venue for the exhibition and promotion of short film in North America. With annual submissions that surpass 4000, expert programmers specially select 250 shorts from more than 80 countries for five days of public screenings. As one of only three festivals in Canada accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, winners of the Best Live-Action Short and Best Animated Short are eligible for the Academy Awards; while the Canadian award winners are eligible for the Genie Awards.
33rd Annual Pan-Pacific Festival

The Pan-Pacific Festival opens with the Ho'olaule'a (block party) and closes with the Parade on Kalakaua Avenue. A section of Waikiki Beach near the Duke Kahanamoku statue, under a majestic banyan tree is the location of an outdoor stage and many hula concerts and performances. Both the Royal Hawaiian Center in the heart of Waikiki and the Ala Moana Center, are locations of the Performing Arts Showcases.
Fraser's Hill International Bird Race

The objectives of the Fraser's Hill International Bird Race are to preserve nature and simultaneously to promote Fraser's Hill as a bird sanctuary. Large species of mountain birds thrive comfortably here, and at certain times of the year, migratory birds make their presence felt, although briefly. The competition will be divided into three distinctive categories - the advanced category for the serious and experienced bird watchers, the novice category for those who just take up bird watching out of curiosity or treat bird watching as an academic hobby, and the local category for the local residents.
34th Session of the International Geological Congress

Jawsfest: The Tribute

The tribute will concentrate on the men and women of JAWS who have passed, with special focus on Peter Benchley, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw. We are inviting fans, families, cast, and crew to join us in Amity (Martha’s Vineyard) to share their personal stories, memorabilia, and experiences. This event will explore how the making of JAWS has impacted the lives of those who came to Amity in 1974 and how the blockbuster film they created continues to impact lives today.
16th Biennial Meeting for the Society for Free Radical Research International

Cruisin' The Coast

Car enthusiasts from over 39 states and Canada drive to the Mississippi Gulf Coast once a year to showcase their rides and to cruise our beautiful 30-mile stretch of beachside highway with designated stops in Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Gulfport, and Ocean Springs. Each venue is set up as a mini festival with a stage for live bands, reserved parking for registered cruisers, spectator parking, and vendors for food and event merchandise. Our week long event includes cruise-ins, a VA Hospital Cruise, car auction, swap meet, car corral, and a parade. Spectators are welcome and will find that our cruisers love to talk old cars.
