FIDO Friendly Magazine’s Annual Pet Adoption Tour is a great way to raise awareness over the plight of shelter pets.

FIDO Friendly Magazine announces last two events for the year for the 9th Annual Pet Adoption Tour, Get Your Licks on Route 66® with Presenting Sponsor Petco Foundation.

“Each year we travel from Los Angeles to Chicago, stopping at animal shelters along the way to support adoption events and to raise money for the shelters,” said Susan Sims, Publisher for FIDO Friendly Magazine. “At each event, attendees line up to donate money to spin and win prizes showcased on our giant spinning wheel which are provided by our generous sponsors like Companion Sponsor Evercare, Advocate Sponsors Petcurean and Buddy Belts, Safety Sponsor Sleepypod and Community Sponsors Hands On Gloves, Canidae, Tito’s Vodka, Zeus Dog Toys, Lucy Pet Products and Plato Pet Treats to name just a few.

“At the end of the day, all proceeds go to the shelter.”

In the first eight years, the tour has helped place over 9,000 pets in to new forever homes.

“It’s a great way to raise awareness over the plight of shelter pets and to help educate new pet parents about the importance to spay and neuter their pets,” says Sims.

At the tour kick off in Los Angeles in early September, tour Spokesperson and Emmy Award Winning TV Host of the CBS weekly series Lucky Dog, Brandon McMillan, appeared at the East Valley Animal Shelter signing autographs and answering questions for pet parents.

FIDO Friendly Magazine received a grant award from the Petco Foundation of $25,000, which will extend its ability to support the lifesaving efforts across America.

The last two pet adoption events this year will take place in Kansas City, Missouri at Wayside Waifs on October 14 and in Merriam, Kansas at Great Plains SPCA, October 15.

FIDO Friendly Magazine is the only magazine dedicated to the travel and lifestyle of man’s best friend, and the one magazine your dog will thank you for.
