Musée d'Orsay houses the greatest diversity of artistic creation in the western world during the time period of 1848 and 1914. It was formed with the national collections coming mainly from three establishments. The Louvre museum, The Musée du Jeu de Paume, and lastly from the National Museum of Modern Art. The Musée d'Orsay houses a Painting collection of Realism to Impressionism, an extensive sculpture collection from the 19th century works, photographic collection which spans over forty-five thousand photographs, and deccorative art creations.
